About Our Small Schools

Springfield High will be reorganized into five Academies for the 2010-2011 school year.  These academies will allow each student to join with students and staff with similar interests and needs. It’s like being in a small high school, with about 500 students.  Teachers get to know students well, students get to know fellow students well, and everyone gets better support and direction this way. Each small school has a principal and counselor who will come to know the students well.

 

Academy-Based Learning 

New for 2010-2011 School Year !


Students CAN take classes in any other academy as needed, to customize their coursework.
We expect that almost everyone will take some classes outside his or her small school.
For instance, band students from all schools will take band together.
IB and AP classes, and world language classes will frequently include students from different academies.

All extracurricular activities (sports, clubs, student council, drama, marching band etc.)  will combine students from all academies.


Students will select their academy.
  Academy Selection Materials will be sent home on April 15th, and are due back - with student and parent signatures - on April 22nd.   For more information, click on the following links:
